First flying lesson

I took my first flying lesson today at Phuket Airpark, piloting a Zenair CH701 under the instruction of Captain Suchard Raksagnob (Robert). I’ll be doing at least one lesson per week to reach the minimum of 15 hours flying to qualify for my private pilot’s licence.

Robert has realised a personal dream by building Phuket’s first airpark on the east of the island. There is a 400 metre grass runway and hangar facilities. Land is available for sale on the site for plane lovers to build their own homes.

Over the last couple of weeks we have re-launched a number of our websites with a totally new look and a new engine in the background.

We’ve toyed with Drupal and Modx content management systems, but they never achieved everything we wanted to do. WordPress had always been a great option but lacked in a few of the features to be found in the CMS software. That’s all changed now with the introduction of CMS themes for WordPress.

We are now running WordPress with the ‘Awake’ theme from Themeforest on Patong Language School. Quality Homes Phuket and this website. Study Thai Online will be next to get the treatment! The Winter Blues

This is not an enjoyable time of year to be living in the UK. Wind, rain, and maybe snow and ice, from November right through to March. Those lucky enough to be retired and on a pension can escape for a few months to sunny Spain, dodge the worst of the winter and come back with the arrival of spring. Those still counting on their monthly salary don’t have this option – but there is a way! Take a TEFL course and get yourself somewhere warmer! Patong Language School is approved by CSN, Sweden

Patong Language School is pleased to announce that on August 27^th 2009 approval was granted by Högskoleverket to allow students from Sweden to apply for study support grants from CSN.

PLS provided Thai lessons for Swedish students under CSN grants for many years until a sudden change in the regulations regarding quality approval in 2008. PLS and the Thai Office of Private Education worked hard over the last few months to prepare the school for a quality assurance audit. The audit was carried out in June 2009 and the result sent to Högskoleverket for their consideration.

PLS is delighted to report that Högskoleverket agreed with OPEC’s quality review of Patong Language School and has instructed CSN to allow grants for future applicants.

PLS looks forward to welcoming many Swedish students back to Phuket!
